Mike Von Zorn Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory of Mike Von Zorn (Mike “Tancred” Von Zorn)
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mike “Tancred” Von Zorn, a cherished member of the Ravenwood family whose presence, dedication, and spirit helped shape the very soul of the community he loved so deeply. Mike was not simply part of Ravenwood—he was Ravenwood in so many ways, and his loss is felt in every corner of the Faire, the Foundation, and the lives he touched.
For many years, Mike devoted countless hours, days, weekends, and seasons to the growth and success of Ravenwood Faire and the Ravenwood Foundation. His service went far beyond volunteer time. It lived in the friendships he built, the traditions he helped preserve, and the welcoming, inclusive spirit he embodied. Mike believed deeply in Ravenwood—not just as an event, but as a family and a home for all who found belonging within it.
Mike was the kind of person who always showed up. When something needed to be done, he was there—offering his skills, his knowledge, his strength, and his heart. He shared his experience freely, mentored others with patience, and helped foster the sense of camaraderie and fellowship that defines Ravenwood. His dedication, passion, and tireless work helped shape the organization into what it is today, and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
Behind the volunteer, the character, and the friend was a devoted husband, father, and family man. Mike’s love for his family was at the center of who he was. Our hearts are especially with his beloved wife, Mara, and his daughter, Sarissa, as well as all of his family and loved ones, as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Mike’s legacy lives on not only through Ravenwood, but through the love, values, and memories he leaves with his family.
One of the community’s final cherished moments with Mike came just this past weekend at the Cast Retreat. As he had done so many times before, Mike was there sharing stories, laughter, and fellowship with the people he loved. Those moments—filled with warmth and connection—have now become treasured memories that will be held close forever.
As a community, we grieve together. We remember the laughter around the campfire, the long days of preparation, the shared challenges and triumphs, and the friendships that grew stronger year after year. Mike’s presence was woven into the very fabric of Ravenwood, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.
Thank you, Mike, for everything you gave—to Ravenwood Faire, to the Ravenwood Foundation, and to all of us. Thank you for your years of service, your countless volunteer hours, your generosity, your friendship, and your unwavering belief in what we were building together. Ravenwood is stronger, richer, and better because of you.
To support Mara and the family during this incredibly difficult time, a GoFundMe has been established. Those who are able are encouraged to consider offering support and sharing the fundraiser in the spirit of the community Mike helped build.
Rest well, Tancred. You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of Ravenwood.
